Associate, Trading

About the role

Our Trading and Distribution practice sources, supplies and distributes goods for manufacturers, producers and buyers. We trade as principal and work as a manufacturer's representative or distributor. Our work connects producers and suppliers with buyers across markets, and covers product sourcing and supply, import and export trading, manufacturer representation, and distribution and market development. Assignments range from individual orders to ongoing supply arrangements. We also establish distribution channels for manufacturers entering new markets. The practice works with manufacturers and producers, importers and distributors, industrial and commercial buyers, and government and institutional purchasers.

We are looking for an Associate to work on the firm's supply and trading assignments from our Abu Dhabi office. You will report to the Managing Partner.

This is a physical trading role, not a screen trading role.

What you will do

• Establish the product requirement and identify suitable sources of supply.
• Confirm specifications and availability, together with pricing and delivery terms.
• Complete counterparty checks, including sanctions screening, before an order is confirmed.
• Coordinate product documentation and work with suppliers and logistics providers on fulfilment.
• Manage individual orders and ongoing supply arrangements through to delivery.
• For manufacturers entering new markets, identify buyers and distribution partners and support the negotiation of representation terms.

What we look for

• Fluency in English and Arabic, written and spoken, is essential.
• Three to six years in commodity trading, trade finance or a similar field.
• Experience of physical supply contracts, trade documentation and delivery terms.
• The ability to deal with suppliers, buyers and logistics providers directly.
• The ability to manage several live orders and deadlines at once.
• A keen interest in sourcing, supply and distribution.
